UT Neonatology Celebrates Expansion at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital

University Clinical Health (UCH) is excited to announce the expansion of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. This significant step forward enhances the capabilities of the UT Neonatology team, allowing them to serve the most vulnerable patients with complex medical needs.

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital marked this milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, celebrating the opening of the expanded NICU. The new facility adds 14 beds to the existing 60-bed NICU, with the option to quickly expand as needed. This construction extends the hospital to the corner of Poplar and Dunlap Street, increasing its capacity to meet growing demand.

“The NICU at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital is a Level IV unit, offering the highest level of acute care for babies with the most severe health issues. Babies are brought to Le Bonheur from all over the region for the expert care provided by an incredible team of providers. This expansion ensures that UT Neonatology and LeBonheur can continue to deliver exceptional care to the patients who need it at this critical time of their lives,” said Dr. Ajay Talati, Sheldon B Korones Endowed Chair and Chief, at the UT Health Science Center and UT Neonatology of University Clinical Health.
